Systemisation and Leverage Workshop: Make Your Business a Systems-based Business

Is your company a systems-based company or a people-based one? Which is best? Hint: how well does your company work when you’re not there, and how well would you cope with a few key individuals leaving?

In this workshop we’ll look at how we achieve leverage through the creation of systems that people will enjoy operating. We’ll cover systems for people, processes, marketing and finance and consider what the routine tasks in your business are – and what the exceptional ones look like. We’ll talk about Key Performance Indicators for individuals and teams and get you started on “positional contracts” for roles in your business. We’ll discuss the creation of “How To” manuals for the different roles in your business, what formats work best and how you keep them up to date. Finally we’ll consider the value of having an organisational chart for what your company will look like at the end of its current stage of development, and you’ll prepare one.

By the end of the workshop you will be equipped to systemise the routine tasks in your business and to communicate to your team members what they need to do to be successful in their roles.

Preparation: Review the written systems that you have in your company at the moment and the extent to which people are following them. Bring a copy of one of your current job descriptions.
